Staff’s need to have the skills to work confidently and safely. Staff’s need to be familiar with the Policy and Procedures of the OSCAR Programmes, including an awareness for the working environment. Health and safety information will be discussed at staff meetings where staff will be informed of all health and safety policies and regulations.
New Staff will be required to read the Policy and Procedure Manual. If there are any parts that the staff member does not understand, the supervisor will work with that person to ensure the staff member is clear on what is required.
New staff will be encouraged to study the Out of School Care & Recreation course through Open Polytechnic.
- Staff will be given the opportunity to complete Basic First Aid Training
- Staff will be informed of any changes to Policy or Procedure
- Staff will be given training on child protection by the supervisor/manager and will be encouraged to attend external workshops and seminars on child protection.
- Staff will meet annually with the supervisor to review and discuss procedures including their performance
- Staff will be required to participate in an Emergency Evacuation Drill and it will be carried out once per term for before and after school care and once per fortnight during school holiday programmes.
- New staff will be trained in emergency procedures within the 2 months of employment
Little Feet Childcare Centre OSCAR programmes supports and encourages staff who wish to extend their knowledge in areas pertaining to their job.
