- If a child says they are not feeling well, staff will ask simple questions about how the child is feeling, and make a first assessment of the problem
- Children who report they are not feeling well will be given the opportunity to ring parents/guardians if they wish and will be directed to lie down in the First Aid room. They should be monitored regularly and given time to recover.
- If the child’s condition worsens and staff are concerned, Parents/guardians should be notified.
- In the event of a serious injury, or severe deterioration appropriate specialist services will be utilises i.e.: Doctor, ambulance. Parents/Guardians will be contacted immediately
Tobacco and other illegal substances does nothing to enhance the well-being of any child.
A smoke free policy will be in place at all times. Staff and visitors may not smoke on the premises. When an OSCAR programme is being run staff/visitors may not smoke within site of the children. No smoking signs are displayed throughout the premises.
We will ensure that our programme environment is free from Drugs, Alcohol and illegal substances.
- The Trust takes a zero tolerance attitude towards Drugs, Alcohol or illegal substances being brought into any facility by any child, staff or parent /guardian.
- Children who bring drugs, alcohol or illegal substances to the programme shall be removed and their parents/guardians contacted.
- Staff will talk about the negative effects these things have on well-being.
- Staff under the influence of alcohol, will be asked to leave the premises and will face disciplinary procedures.
- Staff in possession, or under the influence of illegal substances at the programme will be asked to leave and will face disciplinary procedures.
We will attempt to ensure that we provide a drug, alcohol, tobacco and illegal substance free environment in order that we maintain the safety of children and staff.
