We believe at Little Feet Childcare that a smooth and well informed transition to school empowers children to achieve great social and academic success. We are committed to ensure that all children and families attending this service receive the best possible transition experience for their child/children.
- The teaching team will provide support for parents/whanau/caregivers through the transition to school process.
- Teaching team will facilitate opportunities to develop and maintain positive and open relationship with school which serve their community.
- In cases where the teacher is taking the children for a school visit, will be treated as an excursion or a short trip.
- Supervisor will gather information from the nearby schools.
- Supervisor will liaise with the parents to find out which school their child/children will be attending once they are 5/6yrs old.
- Permission forms for school visit will be given to parents and the signed forms must be returned to the centre.
- Staff will take children (maximum of 5 per teacher) to the school for 1 hr visit fortnightly. (Day and time as discussed between the school and the centre.)
- Parents will be welcomed to accompany their child/children for the school visit.
